Domain Names Explained
Before you can take advantage of our web hosting service you need to buy a domain name through Orkney PC. Domains cost around £6.00 for a .co.uk and £20.00 for a .com. The domain is then yours for 2 years after which time you can renew it on an annual basis for approximately the same price.

A domain name a unique personal name for your internet and email presence. For example we own orkneypc.co.uk so our website is at the address www.orkneypc.co.uk and our email address is anything@orkneypc.co.uk.

Buying your domain through Orkney PC means we can host it without transfer charges. It is important to note that although you buy the domain through us, you own it and you can do what you wish with it. You can move it to another host, you can sit on it then sell it for profit or you can continue to renew it and have a personal identity on the internet.

If you already have a domain name and wish to take advantage of our hosting services you can transfer it to our server, this usually costs about £30, but when you consider that we will host it for hundreds of pounds less than others, it's a small price to pay.
